Actions against other news outlets are planned. The RNC said Wed. (7/27) it will stop paying his legal bills should he announce his candidacy.

Wanna bet a judge appointed by him gets this case, and still turns him down?

Again, and as always, I look forward to the discovery

What I know about civil trials is a plaintiff sends an intent to sue letter to the defendant and files a copy with the court. A judge is then assigned to the case and they announce a six week period for the two sides to get together and reach a settlement. If they can’t come to an agreement a trial date is set.

In this story Trump’s lawyers are announcing an intent to file an intent to sue letter. CNN has their own legal department so they can’t be intimidated by lawyers’ fees so they can just sit tight, wait for a trial to begin, and as Kevin says, sell tickets to discovery.

I think you mean Warner Brothers Discovery.  *ducks*

Seriously, tho, I can't believe he's still defaulting to "If you can't win, sue".  He's like a pitcher who only has one pitch, and it's a shitty curveball everyone can see coming from a mile away.

The point is that it’s all a bluff until the intent to sue letter is filed. It really shouldn’t be a story.

I totally agree with Tom. Trump is simply threatening to sue CNN. He threatens to sue everybody. It’s a manifestation of his bully persona. It’s a non story at this point.

Of course he also actually sues lots of people (and is sued by lots of people). If he actually sues CNN it will be a big story, but for reasons cited here this is highly unlikely, as the truth is a defense against defamation, and he would be handing CNN lawyers the opportunity to get him on the record, under oath. He ain’t doing that.
