Angelenos can quibble about some of the details — for example, the brief opening titles depict several landmarks that aren’t in the city of Los Angeles, and the second episode involves the mayor making a bunch of ceremonial visits, the list including places such as El Segundo (actually a separate city) and Six Flags (a little unclear if it’s in unincorporated Los Angeles County or in the city of Santa Clarita, but either way, it’s not in Los Angeles).
But it was all worth it because there was one moment in the second episode that made me laugh so hard I cried.
It’s a Tina Fey-Robert Carlock creation, so I’m a little more optimistic about it lasting at least 13 episodes. (It was originally developed as a “30 Rock” spinoff, to star Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy becoming mayor of New York City, but he dropped out of the project and it was retooled for Ted Danson.)
