It’s uncomfortable to see a young person publicly call out a toxic parent but everything she says points out to him being toxic.

Something I said about my father, both when he was alive and after he passed, was that I loved him because he was my father, but it was unhealthy for he and I to have any sort of relationship; I wished him well, but for my own emotional well-being and sanity, I could not be around him.

I heard that vibe from her, not that she hates him, but that she needs to maintain distance from him. While sad that any child feels that way about a parent, to be able to express it in those terms is healthy.

Totally agree as a psychologist. As an old man, I am not sure I understand the need to share that on social media as opposed to maybe an email or text to family and friends explaining why, no, she is not inviting Dad to her wedding and please nobody bring him as a plus 1. But I am informed by younger adults I know and respect that sometimes that public declaration is indeed necessary.

She’s a public figure, even though I had to do a web search to find that out, and she’s doing interviews in support of her latest project. Since she doesn’t deny being his daughter it makes sense to have a family question come up in an interview. She has the option to say it’s a private situation but it’s her choice to give an answer at length.

So the Father/Daughter schtick on New year's Eve broadcast was just an ACT then?   I'm not surprised.

She wasn't really into the whole thing.

Ah, I did not realize that. Makes more sense.

Rob Schneider tells Tucker Carlson he loves his daughter and is sorry he wasn't the father she needed.
It didn't sound sincere. Maybe it was.

I suspect if Rob really wanted to let his daughter know he loved her, he wouldn’t be doing that via Tucker Carlson

Plus, making a public apology for being a toxic parent doesn’t mean you are no longer toxic.
