I think there is room in late night for political jokes as well as the sort of silly nonsense that Craig’s show used to feature. Colbert is great at what he does, certainly better than the current staff at The Daily Show, but just following the news is exhausting... I can’t muster up the additional energy to laugh about it.

I think that’s why I gravitate towards the topical comedy podcasts and radio shows in the UK... I’m not as inundated or directly effected by most of what is discussed on those shows, so listening to them doesn’t suck the life out of me the way the US shows do. I can laugh at Teresa May’s incompetence and stupidity because she has far less impact on my life than Trump or Bernie or Pelosi.

In summary, I do miss Craig Ferguson... and Tom Snyder... and Johnny Carson... and the original Not Ready For Primetime Players.
