"I hate to crap on my own show," he told fellow rightie Glenn Beck, but a "cringeworthy" rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" by Hillary Clinton portrayer Kate McKinnon convinced him the end was near... and naturally, he's not fond of current weeknight late-nighters either...

With all due respect to our two resident "SNL" haters:

Thank you, Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo.

As loath as I am to agree with Schneider, I found that rendering of "Hallelujah" cringeworthy as well, but (I assume) for different reasons: 1) If there's a more overdone and unnecessary song, I'm hard-pressed to think of it, and b) McKinnon's typically lifeless, enervated, and one-note performance gilded the dead lily.

SNL's toothless treatment of FPOTUS over the next four years did nothing to change that opinion, just as the current take on Biden ("He's old! End of joke,") is as lazy and uninspired as the rest of the show.

Call this a Flaming Hot Take, but Lorne will retire after the 2024 election (he'll be, what, 79?) and his whole effing company will be broken up... SNL, Fallon Tonight, all the stuff he's invested in like Davidson's Bupkis, no more... Donald or no Donald.     B

Rob wants to blame his politics for his lack of a career, even though he hasn’t been relevant to pop culture in decades and nobody knew what his politics were until Covid.

None of Michaels’ one note one hack sketches on SNL are defensible, so I won’t bother. But politics has nothing to do with why one can’t defend them.

But let’s say Rob is right, that SNL has grown too bitter and too divisively partisan. He appeared on Beck’s bitter and divisively partisan show to speak about the evils of bitter and divisive partisanship. So f*ck him.

Back to Schneider, whenever people start to venerate ex-cast members I think about what happened to Victoria Jackson and Dennis Miller.

My opinion of when SNL jumped the shark was back in the nineties. Since then it’s been talented people doing unfunny sketches.
