As the link states, the main problem with Burnett at MGM was that he was unable to come up with
anything as successful as his previous shows--and he had no interest in the scripted prestige shows. More importantly, all of his other shows that came to MGM have other owners involved--because they were all formats created by others ("Apprentice"--and his first show for Discovery, "Eco-Challenge"--were the only hits that he created--and of course, Trump owns part of "Apprentice"). His other main interests were all those Biblical-themed scripted shows he was doing for cable and the Light TV subchannel of family programming--the former shows didn't bring in the numbers or got lost in cable's removal from scripted as streaming came along and he ended up selling Light to Byron Allen--it's now Grio, competing with Scripps' Bounce for Black audiences.
