Quickie Review: Sunny

Can’t go into too many details about this series starring Rashida Jones without spoiling plot points, but both my wife and I are enjoying it. It has an ominous yet darkly comic vibe similar to Severance, and the storyline is compelling so far. 

Kudos to the mostly female behind-the-scenes crew.

I feel like every former Parks and Rec costar has done one of these edgier series in the last few years. Except Jerry. Nobody wants to see Jerry.

I’ve caught up with the available episodes and I’m not sure where it’s going. I give Rashida Jones credit for playing a main character with zero glamour and it was really smart to accentuate her alienation by putting her in Kyoto.

One strange thing to me is that there are definite science fiction elements in the series but it feels like the gadgets will be on the market in 3-5 years.
