I just heard on Thursday Night Football that Peacock is offering a promotion for new Peacock subscribers: $1.99 a month or $19.99 a year.

Ordering a streaming service from peacock is like ordering a cup of coffee at Starbucks: you can’t assume that you know what the labels mean. The $1.99 is for Peacock Premium, which does not mean Ad free. The (kind of) Ad free tier is I think $10.

For those who want Premium though this is a good deal (regularly $5).

True. The thing that makes me want to subscribe to Peacock is Premier League football and there are no commercials during game play. I set a timer and turn off the TV during halftime. Honestly, I didn’t think about the rest of their programming.

I'm almost as limited; it's a reliable source of many live sports events and related programming, such as NASCAR (tho USA hasn't been incorporated into the deal, forcing folks to use the cable-$ub$cription-dependent NBCSports.com stream)     B

So my problem with sports on Peacock is that it seems difficult to view live events in progress from the beginning. I watch almost all I’ve sports that I DVR on like a 30 to 60 minute delay, so I have a buffer to use to fix thru commercials. I noticed during the Olympics, and on the Thursday Night NFL game, that if you join a live event it starts you in the present moment, without the option of starting from the beginning. You can rewind to the start but: 1) have to remember to mute the volume and avert eyes from screen to avoid seeing score and 2) if you pause for longer than 30” or so, when you come back you can not pick up where you left off. This is a bummer. With the Olympics at least, if you wait until the event is over and archived, you can start from the beginning.

The streaming sports I watch now are on ESPN+ and I have gotten used to the commercial breaks. I mute the TV and wait them out. I’ve gotten so conditioned that during the ad breaks on Hulu and Freevee I stopped being annoyed. If I find there’s stuff I want to watch on Peacock it will be the same.
