I can’t. I just can’t watch any of the countless Trump castaways who could’ve spoken out while in office, only to wait until they got a lucrative book deal. While I am glad that (for money), they are willing to trash talk Trump, they did nothing to stop him while in influential government jobs... especially Bolton, who refused to testify during the impeachment despite having evidence of Trump’s guilt.

I can’t even credit Bolton for having a change of heart, since it seems he was always aware of Trump’s incompetence but did nothing about it. As a public servant, Bolton failed us. As a man, he failed himself.

Bolton has long been the crusty dog shit stuck in the crevices of Republican shoes. Everything he has done during the Trumpacolypse has been in character for him.

Colbert did a good job with him. I am particularly impressed he didn’t vomit.

That said, I watched it and completely sympathize with Kevin's point of view.  What Bolton is disappointed in with Trump about appears to be just one small piece of everything.

The only thing Bolton is really disappointed in is that Trump cared more about being his particularly brand of asshole more than he did Bolton’s brand. Bolton, for no discernible reason, always thinks he is the smartest guy in every room where it happens, and assumed Trump would let him lead.

I agree it was a good interview, but I have to wonder if he would have been so tough--even to the point of laughing in Bolton's virtual face--had they been side-by-side in the Ed. It's one thing to mock and attack someone remotely, but quite another to do it in person. That was always Stewart's downfall on TDS; he talked a good game in the abstract, but never went for the jugular when the victim was in the chair. Colbert on the Colbert Report at least had his character to hide behind, so he could say anything. Colbert as himself is something else entirely.

It’s a good point, about Stewart and Colbert’s remote interview. I suspect though in Bolton’s case Colbert would have been plenty tough in vivo as well, since Bolton is such a well known roach.
