Crap - I really, really loved "Single Parents." One of my few appointment series. Watched every episode.

And I liked "Schooled," too - not something I went out of my way to watch but, like "The Goldbergs" (which it spun off from), it made me laugh whenever I watched it.

"Bless This Mess" was terrible, though. No big loss there.

Still on the fence about "Stumptown," though I'm glad it got renewed. I've seen every episode, and I like it, but it's missing something... just not sure what. Maybe, like its lead character, it always seems to be content with just getting by.

The Stumptown trailer suggested a horrible series, but Aaron Barnhart gave it a good review. I still haven't checked it out because I've got so much on Netflix, Hulu, etc to watch.

It recently started airing on Alibi in the UK, and I must admit that I think I'm in. I'm not going to pretend that it's anything too different, but the lead character is interesting, and it's not a crime of the week series. The show's tape-deck thing will wear thin after a while - I mean tapes come round eventually even allowing for it being a C90 compilation. It might be nice if, beyond the pilot and a couple of exterior pick-up shots, they actually shot the thing in Portland.

One thing. It would be great if there were a US TV series where the Native American characters weren't slightly shady (at best) or downright crooked (at worst) casino owners. I'm wracking my brain to think of the last show where a major or recurring Native American character wasn't in some way an antagonist of the lead. Perhaps Lou Diamond Philip's character in Longmire (even if Philips himself isn't actually Native American), although that series definitely had the antagonistic reservation police cop. Surely I don't have to go back to Ed from Northern Exposure?

I'm hot and cold on "Stumptown," but for the opposite reason; I don't think it's missing something as much as its got too much of everything to the point where there's no focus. I realize Portland has a reputation for colorful characters, but it shouldn't be either Cicely, Alaska or Hooterville. Everyone is just too damn colorful. A skilled creator like Graham Yost or Noah Hawley can pull that stuff off; this team can't. It's like they went searching for something in another medium with an unusual female lead and wiped their hands, figuring their work was done.

Nathaniel Arcand plays the second-in-command of the fugitive chase team on new CBS series "FBI: Most Wanted".  His Native American heritage is displayed fairly prominently as general background noise and they've already had one episode this season devoted to a Native American fugitive that they had to track onto a reservation.

Expanding on that, Native Americans feature relatively prominently throughout the show.  The backstory of the lead actor includes the fact that he's a widower, who's Native American wife was an army doctor who was killed in Afghanistan.  His home life, where his daughter is being raised by his Native American in-laws while he's on the road chasing bad guys, usually gets a few minutes of air time at the beginning and/or end of each episode.

There is a good mix of Native American characters on Yellowstone, the Kevin Costner series. As diverse as the Caucasian characters.
