Can't presume his "SNL" status changes, given Lorne's an exec of the streamer's project...

To borrow from one of my favorite Last Week Tonight segments, "How Is Michael Che Still A Thing?"

Am I the only one who thinks the Jost/Che pairing is the worst in Weekend Update history?

I’m sure you are not, but I suspect I am in the minority that loves both Che and Jost.

I like both Che and Jost. I look forward to catching Che's show sometime. They weren't a good team.

For me, I find Update with them to usually be the best part of the show.  But I often think that, regardless of who sits in the chairs.

Che has grown on me.  Not to the point where I wished he'd stayed on The Daily Show a bit longer, but I appreciate his exasperation more than I used to.

It's the hardest segment to screw up.

My gripe with Che is that he often doesn't follow the Update format. Instead of news hook/punchline, he just uses it as an opportunity to riff about things like any stand-up. That can sort of work for the characters who show up to do commentaries, but when he does it, it's as if Walter Cronkite decided to channel Andy Rooney in the middle of his newscast without any warning.

Count me in the group that like the Che/Jost pairing.

Paul - as to your comment about Cronkite/Rooney, if you look back, Dennis Miller used to go off on similar rants in the middle of the "news" (maybe not as often and maybe not as pointed, but they're definitely there.). Yes, the exception, not the rule, but still...

As one who only watches SNL casually and rarely watches a full show, I think Che and Jost are just fine. They're not the problem with the show.
