I have struggled to watch the long-form bits of LWT, not because they're of poor quality or unfunny, but just because I am so overwhelmed with society right now that it's just one more thing that I feel like is dumped on my emotional shoulders. And I feel guilty because of it, because you do not want to know how much cash I would pay to see him in person, but the world is just too damn much.

I'm the reverse. I much prefer the longform pieces to the "what did Trump do this week" first segment. That probably just goes to show that we're becoming far too inured to actually quite shocking things.

My biggest problem with the longer segments is that they get *too* punched up with gags. I get that it's a comedy show at heart, but sometimes that gags are by the numbers and just lead us off the track of the story unnecessarily. I suspect that I'd be happier with slightly fewer episodes so that the team can put more work into those segments. They sometimes feel a bit too much like, "We found a really good PBS/indie documentary that you never saw, and we're going to fillet the best bits to retell that story." Absolutely acknowledge the journalism that others have done, but always make sure that you're adding something yourself. Many times that's the case, and they do. But all too frequently, there's nothing really new to say aside from bringing light to a story that you may not be aware of.
