I've been told not to plug this on social media yet, but I think it's okay to mention it in here. I taped an intro with Alicia Malone for a movie on TCM this morning. The channel has the Backlot fan club (I'm the Bay Area chapter president) and asked members to submit a list of ten films they love and could talk about. I submitted mine and they picked me to intro 1937's "Shall We Dance," with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, which is my Desert Island Movie.
We were supposed to have taped in front of an audience at the TCM Festival last month, but, well ... (to quote Elaine Stritch on her dumping Ben Gazzara for Rock Hudson) "We know what a bum idea THAT turned out to be!" In spite of my desperate need for a haircut, we did the intro and the outro over an online feed. While the experience was actually quite pleasant, I'm hopeful I don't come off as too much of a boob. It'll probably end up being a total of about five minutes, so I won't look -too- bad.
The movie itself airs on Sunday the 17th at 2:00 pm ET/ 11:00 am PT. I'd planned on recording it off the screen, but they told me they'll send links once they're edited and ready to go. I can post them here if anyone is interested.
