It'll be Ken Jennings v Brad Rutter v James Holzhauer in a first-to-three series that will air on consecutive nights in January.


The smack talk on Twitter has already begun (as much as you can call parodying a classic pro wrestling promo "smack talk"):

The good folks at Bovada have made Holzhauer the morning line favorite, but those odds on Rutter (who has never lost to a human contestant) are awfully tempting...

Having played those buzzers (I refuse to call them "signaling devices;" sorry, Alex), I can state pretty unequivocally that, had IBM been forced to give human-like reaction time, both Jennings and Rutter would have beaten Watson handily. Yes, it was a remarkable engineering achievement, but the game was rigged in the machine's favor.

I've been following Ken Jennings on Twitter for years and the three are retweeting all of the smack talk which makes it fun.
