Alan Jones, 83, the former outspoken Australian talk show host that made his country's talk radio as rightwing as American talk radio, has been charged with 24 charges of sexual and indecent assault again seven men and a teenaged boy between 2001 and 2019 (he retired from radio in 2020)--he was put in custody in his Sydney apartment, but is out on bail and must appear in court on Dec. 18:
Interestingly, the Sydney Morning Herald, which first reported the allegations, has had a long connection with 2GB, the Sydney radio station that was Jones' longtime home base (he was syndicated over the rest of the country)--both entities were owned by Fairfax Media, which was acquired a few years ago by the parent company of the Nine TV network and the streamer Stan.
