A live doubleheader every Friday night with no local blackouts, AppleTV users who don't subscribe to + will get to see the first few weeks of games--there'll also be a weeknightly highlights and live look-in show called "MLB Big Inning":

No indication of announcers or hosts or if they're just piping in local coverage.

To answer the subject header - there will be a (full 162-game) season.

The lede that is buried here for me: Universal DH.

I am old enough to remember baseball when there was universal no DH, and those days were much better. I despise the DH, but have consoled myself that at least it has provided an enduring way to differentiate the two leagues. Differentiation is what helps to justify and make meaningful the World Series, which, particularly since inter league play (something else I continue to dislike) has become less and less important.

Another big change is that advertising patches will now be allowed on uniforms (and all indications are that every team will be attempting to make use of the new revenue opportunity as soon as possible, so expect that even the vaunted Yankees pinstripes will be partially covered by the beginning of the season).

Once the NBA became the first of the "Big 4" American sports leagues to add them, and there was little if any pushback from fans, it was probably inevitable that they'd be added by others. (The NHL already has advertising on helmets, and will have ads on jerseys beginning in the 2022-23 season. The NFL appears to have no plans to add ads anytime soon.)

I live in an NL city and I liked the strategy around deciding whether to let a pitcher bat or put in a pinch hitter and call for a reliever. In the last couple of seasons I’ve seen the game slow down so much that it’s hard to sit through and if a DH can speed things up a bit I’m for it.

It also happens that a DH is universal in baseball except for the NL and AAA and AA games when both teams are NL affiliates. When young players are coming up as pitchers they are not learning to bat at a higher level.
