The newscasting vet's self-titled talk show, replacing the third hour of "News Nation" in March, will be made in the image of "Larry King Live"...

Why? Was this a thing anybody anywhere asked for?

Well, she might look cute in suspenders and giant glasses. Also, if she wants to have eight husbands, who am I to stop her?

You could say the same thing about three hours of NewsNation, which has received a third to half the ratings of Married with Children and Last Man Standing reruns.

In addition to Ashleigh, more NewsNation to love. (Farewell, WGN-Am....)

But reruns of procedurals still during the day and infomercials and paid religion in overnights. I honestly think that doing a goofy morning show like WGN and KTLA's morning shows would be a successful alternative to Coffee Joe and "Fox and Friends."

I’ve been thinking about an ideal lineup for a news network. Here’s what I have so far:

Mornings: Basically recreate the FX morning show, or at least get Tom Bergeron

Middays: Soledad O’Brien. No pundits. The only people I want talking on the news are journalists reporting the news or people who are directly involved in the events of the day.

Prime Time: One newscast devoted to global events hosted by Daljit Dhaliwal and Cristian Amanpour. A second newscast devoted to national events without a host... reporters on-scene introduce their own stories.

Get a string of documentarians to produce long-form documentaries and biographies to air between the three main news times, with only top of the hour summaries of the news unless there’s a breaking story. They can also run overnight.

Bob Costas, Marc Maron, and Whoopi Goldberg each get an hour a week to interview whomever.

I can sign off on this, except Whoopi Goldberg is a deal breaker. Replace her with...well literally almost anyone.

Also, would like somewhat longer news recaps every three hours or so.

Got an Ashleigh Banfield promotional email today.

I wanted to reach out to let you know that award-winning veteran journalist Ashleigh Banfield is coming back to television starting this Monday, March 1, and we’d love to have her join  (your morning show to discuss her new project Banfield, a hour-long talk show.

The show will air weeknights at 10 pm ET on new cable news network NewsNation (rebranding from WGN America.) It will feature a unique single-guest format (in the style of Larry King) to help bring viewers a better understanding of interesting people in the world – including initial guests like Aaron Sorkin, Robin Wright and Bryan Cranston.

The format speaks to NewsNation’s larger mission of providing fact-based news that empowers citizens with different perspectives from across the country, and Ashleigh’s excited to be part of that mission.

Ashleigh is available to talk about:
- Her 30-year career, including time at CNN, Court TV and ABC, and how she’s seen the media landscape change over that time
- Why she chose to return to TV screens with NewsNation
- What’s unique about the show’s format
- Her upcoming guests, which also include Keith Olbermann and Mike Rowe

Let me know if you would be interested in having Ashleigh on the show. She’s available for both live and taped opportunities and we’re currently scheduling interviews March 2, right after launch.
