Movie Mulcahy, star of Benson, Boston Legal and Deep Space Nine dead at 79

Rene Auberjonois, who played Father Mulcahy in the M*A*S*H film, starred as Clayton Endicott the 3rd in Benson, Odo on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and attorney Paul Lewiston in several seasons of Boston Legal, passed earlier today.  79, of metastatic lung cancer.  The career is lengthy, and the StarTrek.com obituary just scratches the surface.



Usually the celebrity deaths in threes is more broad in terms of celebrity status, but with Auberjonois, D.C. Fontana, and Robert Walker, Jr. all passing in the last week (and all around 79-80 years of age), this current group of 3 all have some Star Trek connection.

This also comes not long after the September passing of Aron Eisenberg, who played Nog in Deep Space Nine.

Larry King did an “interview” several years ago with the Deep Space Nine cast, but King (always proudly unprepared) spent most of the interview trying to figure out how pronounce the names of the various cast members. Rene was very, very patient with Larry.

Marina Sirtis’ husband also passed away over the weekend.
