my favourite quote is this:
She addressed that work-around on Wednesday's call, saying: "If you would have told me I’d be in the Ed Sullivan control room for 11 fucking weeks, I would have said, 'Give me some of whatever you’re smoking.'"

WBBM is on 30 years of bad luck, despite the steadily performing network prime time lineup and the dominant daytime lineup nationally, of which they've tried everything in the book from ultra-tabloidism to extremely serious journalism to no success.  The problem's been that even with a aging-and-dying-off audience that would do this, ABC-owned WLS still has people who turn the station on during the early morning local news and leave it on until Kimmel, thanks to Oprah, Kelly Ripa (and three different co-hosts of "Live!"), "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel."  ABC performs better in Chicago than many other cities, and although "Eyewitness News" has been number one all through this time, it's been mostly because of those CBS Television Distribution syndicated shows.

A dozen staffers in Philadelphia got cut too, including four on-air people.
One of them was adorable traffic reporter (and fellow SJU grad) Chandler Lutz, who I will definitely miss gazing at every morning.

And your description of ABC-owned WLS makes it sound a lot like ABC-owned WPVI, which has owned the Philadelphia market for over 40 years.
