If you aren’t a Californian, it is tough to explain how most of us react to earthquakes... basically we don’t. Unless the fault line splits the earth open at our feet, we just go back to whatever we were doing. 

I live close-ish. Felt both big quakes... they were long rollers. Most of the time, by the time we realize there’s an earthquake, it is over. These lasted long.

If you don’t follow @drlucyjones on the Tweety, you should. She is great at breaking down quake data and better at smacking down the junk science about quakes.
