I am a monster baseball fan (primarily the Cubs, obviously, but also the Tigers to a lesser extent), and I have watched this "thing" just expand this year without logic, rhyme or reason. It's just AA baseball with gimmicks during play that figured out how to master social media.
I have really tried in my life not, at 51, to just crap on something new for the sake of it being new, but the only enjoyment I've gotten from the few highlights I've seen was the player who flopped a backflip on CNN (which then turned into a thing in and of itself). I've even read Lauren Thiessen's explanation over on Defector (
