All I could think of as I watched this were Seinfeld’s ridiculous comments about how he stopped playing college campuses because they are too politically correct for his material. Really? Could his observational humor be any more tame?

As I told a friend who asked me about his comments, his act has all the edge of a throw pillow.

That's not to say he isn't funny.  But he takes it a bit too seriously in public.

It wouldn't surprise me if the real story is that college campus money was quickly dwarfed by "Seinfeld" money (residuals or syndication deals or both) and he could no longer be bothered.

So, I don’t agree with Seinfeld’s position on this (I don’t completely disagree either, I just think it is more nuanced than he and that great moral philosopher, Colin Cowherd (who was interviewing him) allow. But to be fair, in the interview Seinfeld did not claim that he stopped playing college gigs because they were too PC. He says he himself does not play college gigs, but he hears all the time from other comics they are too PC. So I don’t think he was claiming to be to edgy for college audiences. Here is the exact quote:

"I don't play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me don't go near colleges — they're so PC (politically correct).”
