PTC Whines About HBO's 'Idol'

The rightwing TV nannies haven't been complaining lately about HBO shows, perhaps because there hasn't been an instance of the liberal critics panning a show as they have the controversial drama series--they're also claiming that Max is not properly blocking NC-17 programs (as in 90 percent of HBO's original programming):

You know folks, the show's been panned, the ratings are in the toilet, it won't be renewed for a second season and Daddy Zaslav will probably pull it off Max a year from now--unless you think he's going to sell it to Tubi or Pluto.

At this point the PTC exists, I guess, to collect dues and put out press releases. I have no objection to that and in the cacophony of hot take reactions they can certainly add their voice. The thing is, 30 years ago they had real power. They could put a series, use a grassroots campaign, and force the FCC to rule or a network to cancel that series. If a mainstream publication decides to publish their press release and treat it as news, that’s the publication being out of touch and living in the past.

One of the things about the chaos at WBD is it gives me a negative gut reaction when anyone predicts what Zaslav will do in the future.
