Im not seeing the passage in the article where Sen Wyden states his suspicion President Trump instigated the UK action. The UK has been opposed to the unbreakable locks on data for a long time, as has Trump, and Wyden simply stated why he thought it would be wrong for US government and corporations to allow foreign governments to access private information of private American citizens. While he probably doesn’t want the Brits mucking about, this has more to do with the Russians and Chinese.

Not every issue has to be petrified by running it through the Trump filter. This is an important and delicate problem, with good arguments on both sides.

========

“Sen. Ron Wyden (Oregon), a Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said it was important for the United States to dissuade Britain: “Trump and American tech companies letting foreign governments secretly spy on Americans would be unconscionable and an unmitigated disaster for Americans’ privacy and our national security.”

Now that I looked at the piece again (after most of the last week in the hospital with a UTI and having stones zapped), I understand PG's viewpoint... still, while a previous Congress would do the right thing, LGO is doing everything he can to circumvent Congress, and Cook is investing (again) in big-money workforce-development projects that DOGE is not touching, and Cook even contributed to LGO's 2028 campaign (yes, it is)
