I don’t want to say I was staring at this young woman’s legs the entire segment (Camila Mendes, from that Archies show) on Colbert last night, but I guess I was. Is there a hole over the knee of her stockings, and if there is, is this a style ( like the people who put holes in their new blue jeans)? Or did she somehow tear them right before she had to go on stage (which would make me like her more)?

Also, even though it was a first run episode, Colbert did include a previously unseen segment from his Julie Andrews interview the night before. At first I thought maybe a guest had canceled, but then I realized how special this segment was to Colbert, and since the interview with Andrews ran long Monday he wanted to play this part in its entirety. They read a poem together (The King’s Breakfast), which he told us she had mentioned during an interview he did with her on the CR. He had stopped the tape at the time to geek out with her out of character, because it was something his mother used to read him when he was a kid. He wanted to read the whole thing with her in his real persona now. It was touching, even more so if they are referring to her appearance on TCR in early 2013; his mother was unwell then, and died later that year. As we know after his father and brothers died in a plane crash for some years Colbert and his mother lived in their house mostly alone (rest of kids grown and moved out). Easy to imagine how meaningful hearing Julie Andrews read the story would be for him.

Given she cupped her hands over said spot for a noticeable length, it's a distinct possibility. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w48kE4kit5A (link)
