I was watching a livestream concert of They Might Be Giants, and noticed former Basic Cable Band trumpeter Mark Pender was part of the horn section.  He had a hell of a solo to end that night's version of "Instanbul (not Constantinople)"

He’s been part of TMBG’s touring band for a long time, even when he was in Conan’s band (Conan came first, but he’d join TMBG on the road when the show was on breaks). Sometimes during band introductions, they have him do his “hold a note for a very long time until his entire head turns red” shtick that he also regularly did during Conan’s audience warmups, although I don’t think they did that for this livestream. The “Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love” performance was enough of a gimmick on everyone’s part.
