The Cold Open was not bad, in that it avoided SNL’s habit of just recreating absurd Trump moments from the week without spinning it in some way. It was basically one joke, only moderately well implemented, but that is probably better than no joke.
More notable to me was the extent to which they apparently had to do Diva service to host JLO by focusing many of her sketches on the premise of how unbelievably hot and fab she is at age 50. Of course, she is hot and fab, so it wasn’t implausible, and they had to do one of those ( probably the monologue was enough), and there was a light hearted aspect to them so she could pretend she was not taking herself too seriously, but it did come across as self indulgent.
Still, never too bad to spend 90 minutes have to look at Jennifer Lopez.
