Facebook has apparently done the same thing.

It might be the only punishment Trump has ever or will ever receive.

The bitch is back on Twitter. He posted a two minute video which is as close to a concession speech as Americans will ever get from him.

I predict his next Twitter meltdown will occur before the sun rises on Friday. He literally cannot stop himself.

A lot of the political history of the last 5 years can be explained by his incessant need to be the center of attention. As the whole ceremony will be about him no longer being the center of attention it's clear that he was never willingly going to attend. If he had conceded like a decent person after the election was called for Biden there was a chance that he could have been pressured into going just for appearances.

He tried to use the White House @POTUS account, but Twitter slammed that shut too, though hasn’t deactivated it, I suspect because with each new President they archive that account’s contents then restart it for the next occupant of 1600 Penn

I read last night that parler is hosted on Amazon Web Services cloud and a lot of parler content violates the AWS terms of service.   I wonder if the next step is for AWS to terminate parler.

Spent part of my morning irritating the children on Parler. The sore losers are grumpy.

From what I gather, it looks like we can expect additional coup attempts on Inauguration Day. They’d better have Biden and Harris surrounded on all sides by Lexan when they take the oath of office.

This actually is a crime in progress, and it is exactly why the social media platforms are cracking down all of a sudden. The current President of the United States is credibly viewed as a threat to the safety of the public, and a security threat to current and incoming officials at the highest level. That sentence is no partisan hyperbole, it is literally true.

Keeping him off Twitter is the least of their problems. They have to design security protocols for the inauguration and somehow keep the details away from the current President and his loyal inner circle. They are wrestling with the constitutional challenges of preventing the current Commander in Chief from authorizing the use of conventional and nuclear weapons in his last week and a half in office. Peace’s opposition to invoking 25th Amendment (and I actually agree with him on this; fast track impeachment is better) means that a handful of military officers and civilian authorities may be faced with almost impossible decisions.

Seems that those that just click Accept to terms of service, might not actually read the terms.

I was going to say that the Parler people are losing their collective sh*t, but there’s no evidence that they ever had collective sh*t to begin with.

The CEO, John Matze, posted this not long ago, in an attempt to equate all speech as equal, including speech which contributed to multiple deaths and an attempted coup. Since Amazon doesn’t have a social network which even indirectly competes with Parler, his initial claim falls flat, but perhaps his worst offense is that he neglected to include commas in the last part of the final sentence, and that lack of punctuation justifies shutting down the whole thing:

We are the closest thing to competition Facebook or Twitter has seen in many years. I believe Amazon, Google, Apple worked together to try and ensure they don’t have competition.

They will NOT win! We are the worlds last hope for free speech and free information.

What they are doing is unprecedented, unfounded and absolutely disgusting. Shameful.

This is a battle against all of us. Liberals, conservatives, atheists, Christians, black, white, etc. They want to keep their monopoly over speech. They want us fighting. They don’t want us working together. They don’t want us working with each other, they want us hating one another.

Parley - brings two people with conflicting ideas together. Our mission is free speech, democracy and us the people having the power. The elite don’t want us to be free, they want hate division and power!

I expect a lot of pointless hearings over the next couple of years, but nothing noteworthy resulting from them. Republicans are crying censorship, even though they are free to speak elsewhere. Democrats want dissenters silenced. A middle ground (i.e. incendiary speech that results in a coup and multiple fatalities) or ground skewed (justifiably) in one direction is what will occur, with rhetoric proven to incite as well as those proven to do the inciting getting banned.

Also of note, Parler was hacked shortly before it was shut down. A full archive was generated, and the real names and locations of some of the more violent posts are being leaked on other social media as I type this.

I disagree that Democrats want dissenters silenced. I have been reading a lot of traditional and social media since last week, and have seen little or no calls for that. Almost all Democrats are saying the Rall To listen to speakers, culminating in Trump himself,s pew vicious lies about the election should be tolerated, while Trump’s call to enter the Capital and use force to interfere with transfer of power should not tolerated. Similar with Right Wing social media; every comment I have seen from Dems or liberals has drawn the line between nonsensical and hateful belly aching On the one hand, and inciting and conspiring to commit violence on the other.

I keep seeing the media wringing their hands over a supposed free speech dilemma that I don’t think exists at all here. You don’t even have to go to first year Law School for that distinction; every junior high civics teacher talks about free speech not extending to yelling fire in a crowded room, or ending at the tip of the other Guy’s nose.

I’ve heard multiple people on the left want the accounts shut down of every GOP member of the house and senate who voted against the election certification. Those votes are idiotic but they aren’t to the level of what Trump or Giuliani or Mo Brooks has stated.

No, it’s not a free speech issue, but the GOP will claim otherwise to bring in fundraising dollars. I saw even the NRA, which is just hemorrhaging cash to try to stay afloat, is joining in the “debate,” stating essentially that after “they” silence you, they are coming for your guns.

Wow, I missed that. I still don’t think that kind of thing is likely to become the standard agenda for Democrats in Congress.

It is a bit of a close distinction between voting against certification, which while deserving of many bad adjectives should not be made illegal or censured, and advocating for violence and disruption of Democratic processes, which is illegal and should not be tolerated.

As I have been saying to my FB friends, I am done calibrating what I say, or think the govt should do, for fear of how it will be distorted by lunatics on the far Right.

YouTube just suspended Trump’s account for a week (or longer), and removed one of his videos for being “incendiary.” My reaction: Only ONE incendiary video?

So that’s all the main social media outlets. I guess he could move over to Parler since they found a right wing web host and will be starting back up, but they have a fraction of the active users, so I doubt he would see the point

He still has a press room and can call into Fox and Friends whenever he wants. For that matter he can do a prime time speech to the nation. He can pretend he's being silenced but it's not like he has no access to media.

I’ll note (but not link to) his video from today on the official White House Twitter, which is clearly done at the behest of his lawyers, so that any future insurrections, he can point to the video to deny responsibility... ugh

Semi-related, an extremist right wing blog has issued a statement after Dominion sent one of their cease and desist letters. In the statement, they admit everything they wrote about election fraud was a lie. While propaganda networks like NewsMax and OANN have backpeddled since Dominion threatened lawsuits, this is the first instance I can find of a media outlet openly confessing to fabricating stories to create the illusion of election fraud. I hope there will be others. The events of last week will recur unless people take responsibility for their words.
