This morning, the second session of the January 6th hearings is not being seen on OTA television, with the exception of NBC's subchannel LX, which I believe is only on the owned stations.  Yes, it's on CNN, HLN, MSNBC, God Bless C-SPAN  and even Fox News (and perhaps CNBC and BBC World News), but if you're a cord-cutter and want to watch it, you're probably going to have to go online.

And from my post from the other day, the stories will still be on this afternoon (and if they stick to the two-hour schedule, only the noon ET feed of "Y&R" will be affected).

There is no lack of live feeds on YouTube. I just did a quick check and there was one from PBS Newshour and one from the Washington Post.

Also, at least on the West Coast, the Hearings are being shown live on all three broadcast networks right now.

I am done making snide, backhanded compliments to Liz Cheney. While I disagree with her on many important policy issues, she is the most clear and articulate communicator on the Committee, and has set the highest possible bar for ethical and patriotic behavior by any member of Congress in my lifetime, and sets the standard not just for Republicans, but also Democrats to put Presidents from their own party on notice that if and when they do or say things hostile to the Constitution, they will be held to account.

It’s the same on the East Coast. All four US stations I get (even Fox, which is normally waist-deep in infomercials right now) has them on.

I was going by the guide, along with doing a channel sweep.  It's obvious they chose to not go to the hearings until they actually started (around 45 minutes late) rather then bantering to fill time.  Let Drew (Barrymore, not Carey) and Kelly and Seacrest do that.

During the stage wait The Most Patient Man on Television on God Bless C-SPAN must've had a field day from the Republican and "independent" phone lines.

Yeah, having watched more than a few Congressional and now California legislative hearings, the announced schedules are always a plan, but often start late and/or run long.  Being on prime time last week helped instill a level of schedule discipline.

Best,

David

I concur wholeheartedly with your view on Cheney, with the proviso that it had better be more than words. If criminal charges are not filed, and if it was all just posturing and rhetoric, then frankly I will not settle for anything less than a man entirely reformed government system which legally excludes all Republicans from participating.

I like conservatives… I married one. But a political party that consistently operates from a baseline of racism and sexism, with no regard for education or honesty, and that places unfettered gun ownership above a child’s right to peacefully exist in a classroom, such a party has no place in modern civilization. And if these hearings don’t lead to real, substantive change, well then I welcome civil war or revolution or whatever one chooses to call it.

Trump needs to be in prison. Clarence Thomas needs to be bodily removed from the Court. And all those in the House and Senate who in any way supported the actions of a madman need to be officially and formally charged and convicted of being traitors. As has been said before, freedom of speech does not mean freedom from the consequences of that speech. These officials tried to subvert the will of the people. If they are not punished for their actions, then there’s no reason for the states to  continue operating under the delusion that they are united.

Hopping off my soapbox now. For now.

Today they started late because their Star witness (Trump’s campaign manager during and immediately before and after the voting period) had to cancel because his wife went into labor.

Not much harm, as the Committee again effectively used video from earlier depositions showing this Trump partisan, under oath, saying that he told Trump the increase in Biden votes margins from mail in ballots was totally expected and normal, and in no way indicative of fraud. Normal people know that of course, but it lays the foundation for Trump being charged, as he can not now plausibly claim that, Eve if wrong, he had a good faith belief the election had been stolen.

Nope. Apparently C-Span reran a "Washington Journal" interview from earlier this morning.

The show must go on.

As for Mr Scully, he’s coming up on the one-year anniversary of being named Sr VP of Communications at the Bipartisan Policy Center.
