Peacock Claims 'Freddy's' As Big a Hit on Streaming As Box Office

Movie business watchers probably got a bigger shock from the over $158M worldwide gross for Universal's "Five Nights at Freddy's," the horror film based on a video game set at a deserted Chuck E. Cheese's manque, than from anything in the movie--and Peacock claims (without showing the numbers) that the day-and-date of release in theaters streaming of the film was bigger on the ailing service than any other recent programming, including the streaming premiere of "Super Mario Brothers the Movie":

Some will say that NBCU blew some potential box office money from the decision (especially since horror movies almost always turn a profit because they're usually low budget), but you could also say that they were giving choices to the audience and the audience responded to both choices.
