USA Network showing Hockey?

On Friday, i switched to USA and they were showing Hockey. Was it because
Wave II of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for swimming was on NBCSN, or was it NBC's choice to show hockey on a channel not usually carrying sports?

NBCSN is shutting down by the end of the year, to be replaced by having sports on USA and Peacock, and they’re already trying to “train” viewers to look for sports on USA. (Note that this is also NBC’s last Stanley Cup playoffs… ESPN and Turner take over NHL rights for the 2021-22 season.)

Yeah, i better get used to USA preempting Law & Order reruns for NASCAR or IndyCar next year......

With the golf and Olympic trials, the hockey playoffs (which, as Jim mentioned, are leaving NBC next year) got shuffled down the NBC/Universal/Comcast channel lineup.
Now that Peacock is available to stream games, five of the ten season-ending Premier League matches were available there. The other five were on NBC, NBCSN, USA, CNBC and the Golf Channel. (In 2019, before Peacock, they also used SyFy, MSNBC and the Olympic Channel; the bottom two games were available on regional NBCSN networks and nbcsports.com.)

All I know is, the Blackhawks didn’t qualify, so it wasn’t “Chicago Hockey.”

This was also the driving factor behind WWE NXT shifting from Wednesdays to Tuesdays; apparently, on Wednesdays we do Hockey.
