Matt Lucas, the comedian who helped create the once-acclaimed, now attacked for racist, sexist and general "punching down" humor UK series "Little Britain," is stepping down as co-host of "The Great British Bake Off" ("Baking Show" in North America--it screens in the U.S. on Netflix) after three seasons, claiming demands from other gigs--his stint on the show (along with co-host Noel Fielding) was criticized by some of the show's fans (who generally hate all other reality shows) for bringing their show down to the level of, uh, "Little Britain":
The fan rumor mill seems to believe that the beloved ex-hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins are to be returning to the big tent, but we shall see.

This would be a good time to share this link. A comedian named Nigel Ng who has an Uncle Roger character and YouTuber Joshua Weissman review The Great British Bake Off Mexican week show.
It's hilarious watching English -speaking cooks fumble with ingredients and pronunciations Americans know so well.
But you'd think pronunciations would be better since Spain is so close to Britain.

I’m not sad to see him go, but would really like to send Noel off as well (that guy really gets in my nerves). I find it hard to form an opinion on whether the Mexico week was racist, since every other bit of material they do offends the intelligence. I didn’t think their Mexico stuff was any worse than anything else they do on a regular basis.
Of course, would be so happy to brink back Mel and Sue. I guess there is no getting rid of Not-Mary-Berry?
