I couldn't take my eyes off of Charlie Watts playing air drums during the Stones' "Can't Always Get What You Want."

When the Jimmys flank Stephen C. during their bits, Fallon's lighting is such that he occasionally sprouts a Chaplin mustache when his head is at the right (or wrong) angle.

I thought Watts was hilarious; it made me feel like he listens to them sing that song just like I do.

So, I did a little digging and learned (per Wiki) that Watts didn't play the drums on the original recording.  Maybe that's common knowledge, but it was news to me.

Not having seen The Stones live that much (and never in person), I'm only guessing Watts learned it for touring.

My biggest technical complaint about the show was that some of the female singers - Kacey Musgraves, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift etc. - used the microphones on their iPhones rather than vocal mics, and as a result the piano drowned out their vocals. (Lady Gaga did it right.)

There were also times when the lack of effort was distracting. I love Paul McCartney, but all through his number I kept thinking "Why are we seeing so much of his ceiling? Couldn't he have turned his phone sideways?"

Best musicianship: Elton John. Second best: Keith Urban.
