Fauci has been a regular feature on the news network, appearing in several “town hall” interviews. Trump wants his daily non-briefing televised live in its entirety; CNN tends to cut away when he starts talking sh*t. The story claims CNN cuts away when the doctors speak, but that has not been my experience. It is usually during Blitzer’s “Situation Room”, and they seem to not show Trump’s opening ramblings, then they cut in for the Q & A, then they cut away when Trump acts like Trump, then they cut back when Fauci or the other doctors offer updates or advice, then they cut away when Trump butts in.

If I were to suddenly be given this level of power, here is how I would cover the 2020 version of Five O'Clock Follies: record it, cut out anything that isn't true or germane, air what's left as soon as is practically possible, and then put the raw footage up on the web (or just point them to the official WH site). Trying to cut in and out while it's happening live is folly.

Aaaand the White House caved under pressure... or because they had no authority to limit press access to anyone

The whole WH behaviour is shameful.... IMHO.
I listened to MSNBC the past few nights around the 5-7pm hours and they were mostly cutting in-out the whole time.  Any time a Doctor went to the podium, they went live -- at least that's what I observed.

For some lighter Leadership news.... here's yesterdays COVID19 Leadership extravaganza from Coanada.  Justin Trudeau. answering a question.  His use of the word "moistly" appears around the 0:52 mark -- but you can watch the whole 80 seconds to get the context.

Then you want to watch this remix which has gone around the country quite quickly.

I've learned that there are a LOT of people that do not like the word "MOIST"

Pence apparently changed his mind and the doctors are scheduled to be back on CNN.

Aside from how horrific the Trump Shit Show has been, it has posed an interesting and difficult challenge for TV news. There is a good argument to be made to not take the Briefing live, and just air the relevant parts on a short delay. But what the US President says during a time of national crisis is per se news, so it is arguably irresponsible to delay it even a little.

I have been on the side of those calling on WH reporters to not ask Trump a single question, and only direct questions at the experts. I would also do what CNN and MSNBC have started doing, which is only dipping in on Trump’s live opening comments as they seem to veer into the neighborhood of being substantive.

But there is no way to do this right; when you elect a film Flåm man president, this is what you get, even when tens of thousands of Americans are dying.

If you watch CNN’s live coverage of today’s press briefing, pay careful attention to the Chyron/words underneath Trump’s face.

Here’s a link to a few of them

Sh*t just got real.

Trump had a full on meltdown today. The chyrons is one way to deal with this. But really, the time has come to put him on a 30 min tape delay and edit the propaganda out.

I’ll go further than that... the news networks that ran the propaganda/campaign video owe equal time (and prominence) to Biden. I’m tuning in to find out how much jeopardy my loved ones are in. If Trump wants to get in a pissing match with the media, the White House briefing room is an inappropriate venue for it.
