I and a coworker saw the Venus razor commercial that featured women with skin flaws. It showed a woman with what I think might be burn scars, a woman's C-Section scar and then this woman. I'm guessing maybe these are birth marks. Both of us, being guys, have no clue what they are. Does anyone in the group know? They don't look like tattoos. Could they represent the remnants of some disease?

Looks to me like it's just an atypical pattern of melanin -- so, basically, birthmarks (or big freckles). Not a disease, and probably not exclusive to women.

Jim Ellwanger, to Steve Timko, today (7/27):

Naevi, it's true, affects any gender... here's the full video whence that 'shot came: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNU2QHhvaB4 (link)

Gillette made a whole campaign out of women that don't exactly fit someone's ideal (search: venus my skin my way) and, of course, got all kinds of grief from ignorant, hateful, and otherwise biased types on social sites.

Looks like vitiligo (same condition as Michael Jackson had).
