I starred interesting posts/threads in GG's web interface, and it is one of them (unless there's a tie) that will be picked.

GG web now expects users to page through the topic list 30 entries at a time, so doing this will take a bit of effort.

As usual, no actual items will be awarded, only the honour.

Speeches are only limited by the winner's own capabilities.

Hopefully, it goes better than the Charleston Gazette-Mail's announcement of their 2021 West Virginian of the Year in advance of the Sunday print article.

 

It's who you think it is, and it's apparent the Twitter respondents have read neither the upcoming article posted online - thanks to the soft paywall - nor any prior CG-M coverage about him this year.

 

So, par for the course.

And yet, if you search his surname there, the first result is from 2011, and most of the next 20 or so are scattered across the 2010s. Wimps.

Paper's offering the 99¢ deal the first month, what's it go up to afterward? Allentown paper tried to jack my online-only over $27, but relented and reverted it to the previous $16.     B

Their web gurus apparently consider searching by date an advanced skill.

I don’t know; I’m a print subscriber ($19.99/month, Tu-Su) so I get electronic access (i.e., Monday) included. I’ll ask Dad at Christmas Boxing Day dinner tomorrow.

Update- The education beat reporter has “fixed” things on Twitter: In honor of her less-knee, more-jerk response to the WV electorate (“illiterate” was tossed about) this week, Bette Midler has replaced Joe.
