Agree with you completely. And, I'm a cat person. In other words, there's never been a time in my life when I didn't have a cat. (People assume I have multiple cats; I have only one; as an adult, I've never had more than one at a time.)
So, naturally, I tuned into the first episode and have seen many of them since. A problem for the show, for me, at least, was that the cats got only a second or two of airtime.
But it's a really awful show. Not only is it not funny, it has an icky vibe to it.
Yes, as marvelous as Leslie Jordan was (I followed his career for years, really enjoyed his one-man show, and even got to chat with him a couple of times), even he couldn't produce laughs if the writers couldn't deliver, and they couldn't.
