Common Wood event on Sunday 4th January

The 4th January may seem ages away. But if you are trying to organise an orienteering event, it's effectively just a few days away. So please bear that in mind when you read the following.
1. Map printing We were expecting to sort out map numbers for the printer on Monday morning. So the price increase date was set for the end of Sunday 18th December. Unfortunately we have just learned that BML are closed after Friday evening until 5th January. So we need to give them map numbers first thing Friday. Needless to say, this is a major headache. We will make a stab at map numbers on Friday morning, and err on the high side. It will mean more map wastage. But hopefully we will not run out of maps on any courses before Sunday night, but we may well do so for later entries.
How can you help? Well, if you are planning to attend and have not yet entered, please can you do so by Thursday night at the latest. Not sure whether you will be able to come? Well enter anyway - you can cancel up to Sunday 28th with a full refund.
2. We need more helpers This may be a standard scream from organisers. But this is a really complex event, with three road crossings, two Starts, two Finishes, all needing manning in shifts so everyone has a chance to run. Some of our teams are now sorted, but we need more people for car parking, road crossing marshalling and for the Finish. So please, if you are able to help, please do put your hand up. Preferable NOW! Just reply to this email to let me know you can help.
All helpers will get a free run (you just need to pay for any SI card hire). When you email me, I will reply with the helper code for you to use when you enter. I will really appreciate all offers.
