The install problems on windows

to TVB Users

Hi!

I want to install the virtual brain on my conputer whose OS is windows, but I got some problems.

After I double click the tvb_start.bat, it popped a browser page like that.

In here, I got the first problem about the matlab path, because I cannot validate it. Then someone told me that I can simply delete the path to pass this step, so I delete that path and change the root folder.

Then I clicked the apply button and got this page. It told me there we unexpected exception and I did not know how and where to check the log files.

Hi

The logs will be in your user folder,

C:\Users\username\TVB\logs

But I cannot find the "logs" according to the path you give me, I find the "logs" in" D:\TVB_Windows_2.4.1\TVB_Distribution\tvb_data\Lib\site-packages\botocore\data\logs"
There are three files there, and I do not know if there were any wrong with that.

Hi

Please open File Explorer and enter in the top bar “%userprofile%\TVB”. Does it find the path? If so you should see a logs folder. If not, it may be that TVB could not create this folder and therefore could not start.

Ok🤣 I actually cannot find the logs folder in that path😂

So what should I do to resolve this problem? Is this because I delete the matlab path or something else? Or can I fix this problem by reinstall the virtual brain?

Hi

Sometimes a workaround is required for non ASCII usernames, on Windows. You could try to create a Windows user with ASCII letters for example tvbuser, then switch to that user and try to start TVB from there.

Otherwise, please wait for someone who knows the TVB GUI startup process better to reply with a different workaround.
