Hi,

I'm very frustated 'cause I'm not be able to install tryton.

I've read all the documentation I've found, even mixing instructions from older versions of tryton but I'm not lucky. :-(

I know there are easy solutions like installing tryton via invoke but I prefer doing a very, very basic installation in order to understand how tryton works and grow up from there.

After very doc readed I think the recommended way to install tryton is via pip on a virtualenv.

I'm using ubuntu 16.04 with a virtualenv over python 3.5

Can you note me on a right link, doc, thread where I can try a basic tryton install??

Thanks.

José Salvador.

With this setup the easier way is to use pip packages. You should at
least install the server (trytond) with:

pip install trytond

Once you have installed the server, you can install aditional modules with:

pip install trytond_<module_name>

This will install the packages of the last stable version (currently 4.2)

Once installed please have a look at:

http://doc.tryton.org/4.2/trytond/doc/index.html#first-steps

Hope it helps.

Thank you Sergi. I had already read that documentation among others.

When I have an empty slot to do the work I will try it again 'cause I
think all of my problems come on from trying to get working tryton
server with gtk client (in a virtualenv on python 3).

I'll note you with the working solution. This time I'll bet for sao as a
client.

Thank you very much for your quick response.

Greats.

As far as I remember, gtk does not behave nicely in a virtualenv, you have to install it system wide. Maybe that's your problem.

I think pthe problem is installing pygtk inside a virtualenv. Have a
look at this thread [1] for further references.

I usually install tryton outside of the virtualenv.

Hope it helps.

When does your problem first occur? Does the server (trytond) install
and start alright? If not, the client shouldn't make a difference.
Or is it only a problem with the client ? than it could be about gtk.

Do you have a special reason for using python 3 ?

Try python 2.7.x instead. The docs list 'python 2.7 or later' as a
requirement, but as python 2 and python 3 are so different, i understand
the 'or later' as a newer version of python 2, not including python 3

It is normal to start new project with python 3.

Tryton supports python 3

I'm proud to say you I just get a working tryton :-D

Installing gtk client at system wide way was not a proper solution for me.

I ended up with a working tryton using virtualenv, nvm and, of course,
python 3. :-D

Thank you very much for your support.

I'll email to list again with a clean and ordered doc with my install
process in order to help with a humble documentation.

Greats.

It was a problem with cliente. Trying to get working a gtk client inside
a virtual env. I've switched to sao client.

For sure!!!

Python 2 is "discontinued" (only for patch and security fixes I think)

Python 3 is the future (and present) ;-D

Thank you.

IMHO I think like you. There is no other way. :-D

Oh yeah!!!

I finally got a working tryton with sao as a client. :-D

Thank you very much for your support.

Greats.
