I removed the shield from my 07 Alante a few years ago, without damaging the paint using Xylene. After getting the film off I used Xylene and also a spray gel glue removal product, don't remember the brand. Working 3 or 4 hours a day it took me 4 days to finish! Since then I've heard that there is a new product that is supposed to do a better job than Xylene. You might do some online searches to find out if these rumors are true..
