The purpose of the Open Government Roundtable is to bring together organizations from across the political spectrum that work on federal open government issues. To be at the table, you might lobby, litigate, or be willing to (at least occasionally) sign on to letters from other organizations. The roundtable is not an organization, but rather an information sharing group where groups can help find people to work with.

The existence of the Open Government Roundtable is not a secret. We are following the Chatham House rule for our conversations, which means that participants can use the information received, but they cannot identify the identify or the affiliation of the speaker, or other participants. We will send summaries of the meetings to the list, which will include information about the work that different groups are doing. Those summaries, and any emails sent to the listserv, should not be distributed outside the group without the permission of the sender.

Meetings will take place monthly and last around an hour. They are in-person only (i.e., they are held virtually). People will be asked in advance to send in agenda items for discussion. There is a regular rotation for the persons who moderate the meetings.

Members may create working groups, where a subset of members can choose to meet. These groups are established at the initiative of those who would wish to participate. When doing so, a Google group will be established and a folder created in our shared drive.

We have a listserv, where people can send news, requests for collaboration and assistance (such as requests to sign on to a letter), and discuss issues relevant to our space. We will make available the names, affiliations, and email addresses of members of the group to other members of the group.
