Does anyone have any general tips for improving tranSMART (advanced analyses, mostly) performance? We have our instances running on AWS t2.2xlarge VMs (8 cores, 32GB mem) and a heatmap with all genes takes just over 4 minutes. I've tried various Postgres settings (e.g. increasing cache memory) with no luck. I haven't found much in the way of Rserve performance improvement suggestions anywhere.

Thanks!

Have you been able to check out the timestamps on the logs to see if the time is spent pulling the data from tranSMART or if it's running the R Script? Unless it's been improved since I worked on it, the Heatmap wasn't intended to do a huge analysis. Depending where the time is spent, you may be able to optimize the R code a bit more.
