Hi All

How can you feed your trip information back into T4A? I do not have a dedicated Garmin app. I use T4A Guide App on my phone to show my surroundings (Attractions, Scenic and Fuel selected to be on). I also upload the T4A planning routes to OsmAnd and use that app for navigating the routes. In my vehicle my phone is mounted next to my central console so I see both maps at the same time.

Any advice appreciated!

Kind regards / Vriendelike groete

Morning Francois,

I am sure other people will comment also. As per the Tracks4Africa website (Tracks4Africa - Ways to submit data.), you require a GPS to record your track logs and mark the places you have visited. Refer to this section:

"Data Collection
If you use a GPS to record the roads you have travelled and mark the places you have visited, then you can send us these by downloading your data to a computer and saving the files in a known GPS format. We prefer GPX or GDB. Thereafter, you can submit your GPS data online or via email.
Once your data is processed and included in a new version of our maps, you will be asked to download this Garmin compatible map and check that your data has been processed to your liking.
For more information on how to collect data you can read our document on the standards for field data collection or even join our discussion forum."
I do note that the link for the "standards for field data collection" looks like it is supposed to open/download a PDF that does not happen on my side, it just remains on the same page.

I do not have a lot of experience with the Guide App yet, however from the website it looks like you are able to send corrections and checkins via the app.

Hi Francois,

The best option for recording your tracks for submission would be with a GPS as Danie said. However, there are some apps that can record your tracks as well - I am not sure if Osmand has that functionality, but I usually use GaiaGPS in emergency to record a track. Not sure if there is a limit to how long a track you can record. Once done, you save the track and then export as GPX and email to new...@tracks4africa.co.za.

Regards/Groete
