Good Morning

We are new to 4x4 driving and wanted to do a trip including a section from Maun to Kasane via Moremi and Savuti around 10 May 2026. I am a bit nervous about being in a single vehicle- Does anyone know if there is a group of people going in that direction around then who we could join?

Regards
Mike Mantel

Good morning Mike,

It would be best to ask on the DriveBots Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1194895093881425), or to google for tour operators in that area.

Regards/Groete

there will enough traffic on that route and you will be fine. Just drive slowly, deflate the tyres properly and engage 4x4 where you think it makes sense.

thanks

Stay in 4x4 mode at all times and take the guesswork out of the equation Mike. Modern vehicles are built for that specific purpose.
It is not a difficult drive if you are aware of the road conditions 50m & 100m ahead of you, keep in the gear that maintains your engine at the optimum torque, maintain momentum at all times .. only stop on a visibly hard surface.
Follow the old Land Rover adage of .. as slow as possible & as fast as necessary  .. and you will be fine.

Enjoy your trip.
Cheers

....and perhaps also be aware of when and (especially when not) to use diff-lock.
Have a blast :-)
