128 Democrats cross the aisle and help Republicans block AOC-backed bid to impeach Trump over Iran strikes

The bulk of the House Democratic caucus voted down an effort to launch impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump on Tuesday, joining a unified House GOP.
Led by Rep. Al Green, dozens of House Democrats including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez voted on Tuesday in favor of beginning an impeachment inquiry into Trump’s strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend, a move which numerous Democrats as well as Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican, said was unconstitutional.
But the majority of their caucus was against such a response to the announcement of U.S. involvement in Israel’s war against Iran, which many Democrats have seemingly not been able to condemn outright.
Many instead have attacked the president for the sudden nature of the strikes and lack of congressional oversight, shying away from total condemnation of the effort to knock out Iran’s nuclear program at the same time.
On Tuesday, the impeachment inquiry vote was defeated, with 128 Democrats joining all present House Republicans in voting it down.

Lacking support from House or Senate Democratic leadership for the move, Ocasio-Cortez nevertheless floated the idea of filing articles of impeachment over the president’s order to attack Iran on Saturday evening, minutes after the White House announced the U.S. airstrikes.
“He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment,” wrote the congresswoman.
The tweet provoked a furious response from the president, who lashed out at Ocasio-Cortez and her party in a lengthy rant posted to Truth Social on Tuesday: “Stupid AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the ’dumbest’ people in Congress, is now calling for my Impeachment.”
“Alexandria should go back home to Queens, where I was also brought up, and straighten out her filthy, disgusting, crime ridden streets, in the District she “represents,” and which she never goes to anymore,” the president continued.
The congresswoman fired back in her own pair of tweets, remarking in conclusion that “I’m a Bronx girl. You should know that we can eat Queens boys for breakfast. Respectfully.”
While Ocasio-Cortez has grown closer to party leadership during her time in Congress (after joining as an bomb-throwing freshman who ousted a top-ranking Democrat in a stunning primary upset), Tuesday’s vote is emblematic of her status as a figure of the party’s left-wing backbencher faction.
It’s the second time this year that progressives have brushed up against moderate members of leadership over the intensity of their opposition to Trump — the first occurring during the president address to a joint session of Congress this spring.
The Bronx congresswoman was defeated in a bid to be the ranking Democrat on the Oversight Committee late last year, being passed up instead for the late Rep. Gerry Connolly.
Supporters of the progressive firebrand argued that Connolly, stricken with cancer and in his 70s, lacked the energy and vigor to be a visible force of opposition to the president; he died in the position earlier this year.
Ocasio-Cortez announced that she would not seek his position upon his death, commenting at the t
ime that the party still valued seniority over other, more relevant qualifications.

In today’s world, is anyone in their right mind? is selfishness the word of the day?

Iran, for its survival must project/ paint a better picture of herself.
when mentioning Iran’s name what is iran looking for?  Why not make it clear their ultimate goal is to help the Palestinians secure a home land and work to that end?

Everyone is accustomed to the propaganda that Iran is a terrorist state, enemy of Israel, of the United States and of the other Arab/Muslim countries.

Hum!!!  Hum!!!  Hum!!! Hum!!!  Hum!!!

As a sovereign state, Iran should have the right to forge their own destiny, protect themselves against their enemies.

Before the fall of the Soviet Union (USSR) engineered by the West and saboteurs from within, the USA protected all democratic and dictatorial countries of the planet,

while the Soviet Union (USSR) and
China protected people of socialist countries and of the emerging countries in all the continents.

So, the fall of the Soviet Union created more instability in the world than anticipated and or as projected!!!!

Finally, there is no Moral Country on this planet.

Russia is experiencing Autocracy with a One-Man Ruler,

China is being suckered by the USA into Invading unnecessarily Taiwan, its own province,

the Western Alliance of Europe is being dragged into mud by the president of the USA who literally kicks any country’s butt that he wants and the Emerging Countries are no longer protected against the Traditional Abusers that we all Know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IS THERE ANY RELIEF IN SITE???????????????

HAITIANS, LET US DO WHAT IS BEST FOR OUR COUNTRY WHOSE FOUNDERS FOUGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM AND HOMELAND.

REMEMBER : ISRAEL IS FIGHTING TO PROTECT THEIR HOMELAND AND THE PALESTINIANS TO CREATE A HOMELAND.  BOTH ARE WILLING TO KILL, TO DESTROY FOR IT.

HAITI ALWAYS HAD A HOMELAND AND IS A “PHARE (Lighthouse) IN THE WORLD”, IN ITS OWN RIGHTS.

WE HAITIANS SHOULD NOW DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO SALVAGE AND OR RECONQUER OUR HOMELAND.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Thursday his country had delivered a "slap to America’s face” with its strike on an American base in Qatar, and warned against any further U.S. attacks in his first public comments since a ceasefire was declared with Israel after 12 days of war.
Khamenei spoke in a recorded video broadcast on Iranian state television, his first appearance since June 19. The 86-year-old looked and sounded more tired than he did only a week ago, speaking in a hoarse voice and occasionally stumbling over his words.
The more-than 10 minute speech by the supreme leader was filled with warnings and threats directed toward the United States and Israel.
He downplayed Sunday's U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites using bunker-buster bombs and cruise missiles, saying that U.S. President Donald Trump — who said the attack "completely and fully obliterated Iran's nuclear program — had “exaggerated” its impact.
“They could not achieve anything significant,” he said.
UN nuclear watchdog confirms damage to Iran sites
The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, International Atomic Energy Agency Director Rafael Grossi, reiterated on Thursday that the damage done by Israeli and U.S. strikes at Iranian nuclear facilities “is very, very, very considerable.”
“I think annihilated is too much but it suffered enormous damage,” Grossi told French broadcaster RFI.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, on Wednesday also conceded that "our nuclear installations have been badly damaged, that’s for sure.”
Khamenei has not been seen in public since taking shelter in a secret location after the outbreak of the war June 13 when Israel attacked Iranian nuclear facilities and targeted top military commanders and scientists.
Following Sunday's U.S. attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, Trump was able to help negotiate a ceasefire that came into effect on Tuesday.
Iranian leader warns US against further attacks
Khamenei claimed the U.S. had only intervened in the war because “it felt that if it did not intervene, the Zionist regime would be utterly destroyed.”
“It entered the war to save them, yet it gained nothing,” he said.
He said his country's attack on the U.S. base in Qatar on Monday was significant, since it shows Iran “has access to important U.S. centers in the region and can act against them whenever it deems necessary.”
“The Islamic Republic was victorious and, in retaliation, delivered a hand slap to America’s face,” he said, adding “this action can be repeated in the future."
“Should any aggression occur, the enemy will definitely pay a heavy price,” he said.
Since the ceasefire, life has been gradually returning to normal in Iran.
On Thursday, Iran partially reopened its airspace, which had been shut down since the war broke out, and shops in the capital of Tehran began to reopen, with traffic returning to the streets.
With the ceasefire, life slowly returns to normal in Iran
Majid Akhavan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, said Iran had reopened the airspace for the eastern half of the country to domestic and international flights, including those transiting Iranian airspace.
Earlier this week, Tehran said 606 people had been killed in the conflict in Iran, with 5,332 people wounded. The Washington-based Human Rights Activists group released figures Wednesday suggesting Israeli strikes on Iran had killed at least 1,054 and wounded 4,476.
The group, which has provided detailed casualty figures from multiple rounds of unrest in Iran, said 417 of those killed were civilians and 318 were security forces.
At least 28 people were killed in Israel and more than 1,000 wounded, according to officials there.
During the 12-day war, Iran fired more than 550 missiles at Israel with a 90% interception rate, according to new statistics released by Israeli authorities on Thursday. Israel, meantime, hit more than 720 Iranian military infrastructure targets and eight nuclear-related sites, Israel said.
Trump has also asserted that American and Iranian officials will talk next week, giving rise to cautious hope for longer-term peace.
Iran has not acknowledged any such talks would take place, though U.S. Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff has said there has been direct and indirect communication between the countries. A sixth round of U.S.-Iran negotiations was scheduled for earlier this month in Oman but was canceled after Israel attacked Iran on June 13.
Iran has insisted that it will not give up its nuclear
program. In a vote underscoring the tough path ahead, its parliament agreed Wednesday to fast-track a proposal that would effectively stop the country’s cooperation with the IAEA, which has monitored the program for years.
