[BUG] TortoiseSVN 1.7.9 (SVN 1.7.6) diff tool (TortoiseMerge) mis-behaviour in Windows Server 2022 Standard 21H2

Good morning, 

I have a recurrent issue where TortoiseMerge does not show any modification at all, and also replaces my working copy with the HEAD revision without any prompt.
I've tried changing the diff tool to WinMerge, but the behaviour is the same: no diff shown, and working copy is lost.

The strange thing is that it does not happen all the time. sometimes during the day the diff tool works, and sudenly it stops (maybe a background update somewhere?)

Do you have any idea how to correct this error?

is the working copy really lost? Have you checked the recycle bin?

There is nothing on the recycle bin, nor the BAK file.

I don't completely understand the steps you take to "loose modifications". Can you reproduce it? If you edit the file, does it revert when you open in TortoiseMerge?

This is a really old version and has been out of support for at least 5 years. Can you upgrade til 1.14.5 (the latest version at the time of writing)?

I'm afraid i cannot upgrade until this error is solved. Effectively we are looking forward to go to 1.14.5

Carlos,

You are reporting what seems to be a client side problem with the TortoiseSVN client version that has been out of support for years. Therefore, the best first action to resolve this problem would be to upgrade TortoiseSVN to the latest and supported version (1.14.5). Then see if the same problem occurs with TortoiseSVN 1.14.5.

So is this behavior reproducible with TortoiseSVN 1.14.5?
