Inquiry about diff viewer settings

I want to use Beyond Compare 4 as a diff viewer, but it does not apply even if I set it to external.

Can you be a bit more specific than that? It worked fine for me when I tested some time ago.

These are the settings that work for me:

File compare:

"C:\Program Files\Beyond Compare 4\BCompare.exe" /lefttitle=%bname /righttitle=%yname ""%base"" ""%mine""

Properties compare:

"C:\Program Files\Beyond Compare 4\BCompare.exe" ""%base"" ""%mine""

The path is like this

"C:\Program Files\Beyond Compare 4\BComp.exe" %base %mine /title1=%bname /title2=%yname /leftreadonly

or

"C:\Program Files\Beyond Compare 4\BComp.exe

I tried it twice

double click

However, it was not opened with Beyond Compare 4.

The diff is still an Excel file.

I'd say your problem is that the advanced diff settings (first screenshot) is picking up the .xlsx extension and using the TortoiseSVN internal diff-script (which is sending the diff to Excel). If you want to use Beyond Compare for diffing Excel-files, remove the .xlsx filename/extension from the advanced settings.
