I work primarily by accessing network drives via "\\servername\sharename" unc file paths. This is all using Windows 8 and the built in File Explorer. Icon overlays aren't working with these paths.

I've tried it on versions 1.8.12, 1.9.0, 1.9.1 and 1.9.2. It works great on 1.8.12 but haven't had success with the 1.9.x versions.

I am aware that TortoiseSVN has a settings menu for "Icon Overlays" where you can checkmark "Network drives" as a drive type. But it was already checked and trying all the different options for "Drive Types" didn't fix it.

However, it does work if I change the "Status cache" to "Shell". But I don't find that setting to be particularly useful.

I do have the VC++ 2015 redistributables installed.

Any ideas what might be going wrong? Thanks.

First of all: don't do that!

For the cache process to get that setting change, you have to restart
the cache process by rebooting or killing the TSVNCache.exe process from
task manager.

Has this changed since three (3) years ago? Is the fcntl() problem from Microsoft? What is the current state?

Are there any news on this topic? How can this problem be solved?

I'm using version 1.14.1 (Win10 Enterprise) and have exactly the same problems as described above.
Icon overlays are not working using a unc file path like "\\servername\sharename" if option "Default" selected at status cache.
It does work, if "Shell" will be selected. It also works, if network drive is mapped with "drive letter".

Thanks.
