Hi,

I'm excited to try some of the new features in 7.0 so I am attempting to move a 6.4.1 workspace to a 7.0 installation.

What is the proper process?  With EDG and the default Repository project it is not as easy as it used to be.  I cannot get EDG to start once I'm operating on my previous workspace.

So far I have tried:
  1. Make a backup of the 6.4.1 workspace.  Start TBC 7.0 and point to the 6.4.1 WS.  Say OK to the overwrite prompt.  TBC starts fine.  However, when I try to start EDG, I get a 404 error.
  2. Start 7.0 pointing to an empty directory for a new, clean 7.0 workspace.  Start EDG.  It starts with no issue.
    1. Import all projects from the 6.4.1 WS (this will leave out any xdbs that exist in the Repository directory so it's not a complete migration).
    2. Restart EDG - fails to start with a 404 error.
    3. Close and restart TBC, restart EDG, still fails.
Note that if I start 6.4.1 using the original workspace, EDG works as expected so I consider the original workspace to be in operating order.  A clean install of 7.0 also works with no issue.  Some strange is happening when I try to use my previous workspace or projects.

Looking forward to using 7.0,

Tim

Hello Tim,

It sounds like you are running into a known issue with regards to missing imports in your collections (since EDG is starting without any issue in a clean workspace, but not after you import your projects).  Adding the missing imports, or removing the collections that have missing imports should resolve the issue and allow you to experience the new features present in TopBraid 7.0.  You can verify this is the case by going to the Server Administration page after encountering the 404 error (in an environment with the projects uploaded from your version 6.4.1 workspace), and removing the projects.  After removing the project(s) with missing imports, you should be able to access EDG.  Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your interest in the new version.

Regards,
